NATIONAL HISPANIC SERVING INSTITUTIONS WEEK

UNLV is proud to observe National Hispanic Serving Institutions Week (HSI hereafter) September 14th-20, 2020 to coincide with Hispanic Heritage Month. The purpose of HSI’s Week is to recognize 539 HSI’s throughout the nation for their work and critical role in educating and empowering Latinx students.

UNLV is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution. The HSI designation indicates that an institution enrolls at least 25 percent Latinx full-time equivalent enrollment.

According to the UNLV Office of Diversity Initiatives website, about 63 percent of UNLV students identify as a racial or ethnic minority. Of that, Hispanic students make up the largest … Read More

INTRODUCING THE MINORITY SERVING INSTITUTION (MSI) STUDENT COUNCIL

The UNLV MSI Task Force Student Services Subcommittee is excited to introduce the MSI Student Council to the UNLV community.  Over the past few months, the subcommittee has been working to get this ground-breaking initiative created and implemented to serve the community starting fall 2020.  The MSI Student Council is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, and it will take important steps at ensuring that student-facing programs, service models, and policies exist to help historically underrepresented students thrive at UNLV.
