The Black Mountain Institute, The Intersection, and the MSI Student Council are excited to announce the First-Generation Student Essay Contest for 2022. The contest is part of the UNLV 2022 First-Gen Celebration.

About: Any first-generation UNLV undergraduate or graduate professional student can enter this contest. Students must choose a prompt and write a short personal essay. Essays should be 500 words long. The essay should address the writer’s life-experience.

The Minority-Serving Institution Student Council (MSISC) September 2nd Meet & Greet flyer

The Minority-Serving Institution Student Council (MSISC) has partnered with The Intersection to host the MSISC Meet & Greet this fall in honor of Welcome Week. The event is for students, faculty, and staff who are interested in learning more about the MSISC members, their initiatives, and ways to get involved.

MSISC AUGUST RETREAT 2022

The Minority-Serving Institution Student Council (MSISC) hosted its second annual August Retreat on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. The retreat taught members about the history of Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs). The retreat also helped to encourage team-building with new MSISC members and fostered discussions with panelists and community partners. The MSISC had the opportunity to learn and grow as a council before the start of the school year.
