The Minority-Serving Institution Student Council (MSISC) has partnered with The Intersection to host the MSISC Meet & Greet this fall in honor of Welcome Week. The event is for students, faculty, and staff who are interested in learning more about the MSISC members, their initiatives, and ways to get involved.

The event will take place on Friday September 2nd from 12pm to 1:30pm at The Intersection (Student Union room 121). Free Crumbl Cookie and MSISC merchandise will be provided.

MSISC AUGUST RETREAT 2022

The Minority-Serving Institution Student Council (MSISC) hosted its second annual August Retreat on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. The retreat taught members about the history of Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs). The retreat also helped to encourage team-building with new MSISC members and fostered discussions with panelists and community partners. MSI STUDENT SUCCESS SUMMIT

On September 24, 2021, President Keith E. Whitfield will host an MSI Student Success Summit for the campus community in the Student Union.

Whitfield will kick off the summit, sharing his vision for student success at UNLV, and the university’s role and responsibilities as a Minority-Serving, Hispanic-Serving and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving institution.

The summit will be open to all faculty, staff, and students. The summit will include plenary sessions by UNLV experts on equity and inclusion, exploring:

  • Best practices in educational equity

The UNLV Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) Student Council has been working behind-the-scenes in preparation for the upcoming MSI Week at UNLV from March 1-5, 2021. To us, hosting MSI Week is important to really highlight UNLV’s critical role in enrolling and call-to-action to be truly serving, especially, minoritized students.
