Provost Christopher Heavey recently announced that UNLV is now officially an institutional member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). HACU membership will allows UNLV to remain aware of national best practices and provide various professional development opportunities and resources. The internship program also offers our undergraduate students opportunities for paid summer and semester internships in Washington, DC and across the country in private and public sectors.
In the very near future, hour-long workshops with HACU staff will be held to learn more about their student resources and services. Topics expected to be covered include:
- Applying to paid internship programs (only open to those authorized to work in the US, among other criteria). (It covers both federal government and corporate internships. They will cover how to make application packages competitive.)
- Applying to scholarships (open only to those at HACU member institutions, other criteria varies by the scholarship offered).
- Information on the Adelante Track at the NACU national conference. (This is a student professional development opportunity.)
- Information on HACU study abroad scholarships.
